Desk top personal computers
Desk top personal computers, sometimes known as workstations generally consist of a single box containing the electronics, the hard disk, CD drive, memory, power supply etc. The monitor and the keyboard are seperate items.
This arrangement can be quite convenient. The computer box can be sited on the floor next to the desk. This keeps potentially noisy fans away from the person using the computer, and does not take up additional space on the desk itself.
The monitor, keyboard and mouse are all that are needed, in most situations, to operate the desktop computer.

Laptop computers
Laptop personal computers consist of a single box containing the electronics, the hard disk, CD drive, memory, power supply, the monitor, the keyboard and even the mouse!
Laptops are generally less powerful than desk top computers, the faster machines tend to be a lot more expensive. Laptops take up little space on the desk and are usually quite comfortable when operated on a persons lap!
Laptops are very convenient, especially for people travelling away from their home or workplace. They are also ideal for watching films and listening to music and playing games!
